What is a Slab Leak?
Many homes in Gilbert are built on concrete slab foundations with the plumbing pipes routed directly underneath or inside the concrete. When one of these pipes corrodes and bursts, water is forced up through the concrete and into your home. This is called a slab leak.
Warning Signs of a Slab Leak
- Unexplained Warm Spots: If a hot water line breaks, you may feel unusually warm areas on your tile or hardwood floors.
- Spiking Water Bills: A sudden, massive increase in your water bill is often the first sign of an underground leak.
- Sound of Running Water: Hearing water running inside the walls or floors when all fixtures are turned off.
- Buckling Floors: Hardwood floors cupping or laminate floors buckling as moisture pushes up from the foundation.
The Restoration Process
Fixing a slab leak requires a plumber to reroute the pipe or break through the concrete to fix it. After the plumbing is repaired, Tri Point Services steps in to remove the ruined flooring, extract the water, and dry the concrete slab completely before new flooring can be installed.
