The Silent Destroyer
A massive pipe burst is obvious, but a slow pinhole leak inside a wall cavity can cause thousands of dollars in damage and severe mold growth before you ever see a puddle.
What to Look For
- Peeling or Bubbling Paint: As drywall absorbs water, the moisture pushes against the paint from behind, causing it to bubble or flake off.
- Discoloration: Faint yellow, brown, or copper-colored stains appearing on walls or ceilings.
- Warped Baseboards: MDF baseboards act like sponges. If they begin to swell, separate from the wall, or the paint cracks along the caulking line, there is water behind them.
- Musty Odors: If a specific room always smells earthy or musty, you likely have hidden mold growing inside the wall cavity.
