Pre-Monsoon Checklist
The Arizona monsoon season officially runs from June 15 to September 30. Taking a weekend to prepare your home can save you tens of thousands of dollars in water damage repairs.
- Trim Your Trees: High winds easily snap Palo Verde and Mesquite branches. Trim them away from your roof and windows.
- Clean the Gutters: Ensure gutters and downspouts are clear of debris so water flows freely away from the foundation.
- Inspect the Roof: Look for cracked tiles or missing shingles. Pay special attention to the flashing around chimneys and vents.
- Check Window Seals: Re-caulk any dried or cracked weather stripping around windows to prevent wind-driven rain from entering.
- Secure Outdoor Items: Patio furniture and trampolines can become dangerous projectiles during a haboob. Secure them to the ground.
